Grace began practicing yoga 3 years ago at the Raffa Center, after experiencing a great deal of muscular tension throughout her shoulders, neck, and back. She was also experiencing tension headaches on a daily basis. She believes many years of vigorous exercise, including cheerleading, running, dancing, and aerobics had contributed to her pain. She was a firm believer in working out daily, probably to the point of overtraining. Grace did not have a well-balanced exercise and health routine. After beginning yoga and practicing consistently for one year, she noticed a tremendous decrease in her tension headaches and muscular pain.
For Grace, yoga is truly a powerful practice both physically and mentally. She was so inspired that she began practicing with videos of Baron Baptiste, Sean Corne, and Ana Forest. She also received training in the Yogafit Model. She started teaching yoga in a health club 3 years ago. She loves teaching and seeing the growth within her class after that first year on the mat.
Currently, Grace cares for her two small children. Previous to motherhood, she worked as a mental health therapist. She believes her training in mental health correlates to the essence and meaning of yoga. The emphasis is not only on physical well-being, but even more importantly on psychological and spiritual growth. She is truly fascinated by her journey on the mat.
I feel yoga is a continuous process in which you learn about yourself and grow. I hope to begin teaching yoga to my children. I would love to have the entire family in downward facing dog.
