Kira arrived at Raffa Yoga after complications with a L4/L5 back surgery. Active all her life in the outdoors a 22 year veteran of emergency trauma nursing at Miriam Hospital her talents and training are long and diverse. Working with traditional medicine for so long she states has left me searching for more. Trained in craniosacral therapy, somatic emotional release and a reiki master she is also a certified emergency room trauma nurse and RN.
Kira is also a certified firearms instructer and president of the Rhode Island gun club.Kira states I have seen patients arrive in the ER near death. I have held there hand while they have taken there last breath, I have listened to and experienced the pain of telling there family member they have lost a loved one. I have found yoga and I know I am home. In the moments of complete and total chaos you must find a still point. Yoga is an extension of what I do in the emergency room although I am practicing on my yoga mat I am doing it for myself.
Breath by breath we learn to react sometimes we save a life sometimes we support one.
I have taught firearms instruction and personal safety for 10 years. It is in this training I teach people to be comfortable with defending themselves with a tool (FIREARM) from the outside with a safe understanding and respect of firearms. It is with the practice of yoga that I teach students to be comfortable with dealing with there feelings and emotions to handle life's challenges in a safe and healthy way from the inside . It is with my training of all my life's experiences that I look to serve the yoga community.Kira has completed the Forrest Yoga teacher training, yin yoga training with Paulie Zink and has mentored with Christine Raffa for 3 years. Kira teaches the basic moves class for intro and beginner students, yin yoga classes and adaptive yoga classes for physicaly challenged yoga students. Classes are fun and thought provoking. come visit Kira in both out Cranston and North Kingston studios.
